Mr. Kalos attended the Chamber of Commerce presentation of their proposal for the promotion and regeneration of tourism of the island. Mr. Kalos pointed out that prior to the above, specific actions had to take place, such as re evaluating our product, improving our infrastructure and the provision of a higher quality product.

Mr. Kalos attended the Municipal Council meeting, with high on the agenda the serious local solid waste management issues especially after the recent fire at the landfill. Mr. Kalos proposed: a) The immediate examination of the air, water and soil quality by the National Center of Research of Natural Sciences, “Dimokritos”. b) That the local authorities take initiative to immediately inform all the residents of the island about the severity of the situation. c) That all legal action is exhausted in the search of a landfill in a different prefecture to temporarily receive our solid waste. d) To investigate, as an alternative scenario, the transfer of our solid waste interim to the Waste Processing Plant of Ipirus. Finally he highlighted the municipality retardation in the recycling program.

Mr. Kalos attended the local assembly at Tsoukalades regarding the National Land Registration issues which have been troubling the local residents.

Mr. Kalos traveled to Athens to attend the annual and most important conference regarding water in our country, the “WaterConference2018”. There he had the opportunity to listen to experts and scientists from around the world, meet specialist in their fields and discuss potential solutions that could apply to our island with its many issues on this topic.
In the meantime, Mr. Kalos continues to meet with local delegates in an effort to better understand the needs and issues of the various areas of Lefkada and the other islands.
